Tiruchirapalli: Noted educationist and founder of the nascent India Jananayaka Katchi (IJK) Pari Vendhar Dr.T R Pachamuthu came down heavily on Government freebies schems and said they were making people lazy.
Addressing a press conference after hoisting party flag to mark the inauguration of the party's national conference here, Dr Pachamuthu pointed out that the government which was earmarking a very meagre budget for education, spent lavishly on its freebees scheme, which would only help the ruling party in its propaganda role.
Criticising year long unoffiical power cut in the state, in spite of the development of science and technolgy, he found fault with the government for not showing interest in additional generation of power.
He said the government could utilise the infrastructure lying with the private sector and generate additional power to solve the power crisis in the state.
To a question, he said IJK was not in favour of organising stir/agitations or road roko on public issues. Instead, the party would utilise the media to focus on such issues and to draw the attention of authorities concerned.
He criticised the political parties' agitations even on small and petty issues and said such agitations would help them prove their presence in the political scenario, besides causing severe hardship to the innocent people.
He said the party would launch its operations across the country very soon and necessary instruction would be given to the party's representatives who came from across the country including Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Kerala and Jharkhand.
Claiming that there was no real democracy in any political parties in the country or in any form of elections, he said the IJK would work to bring real democracy among its cadres as well as in the whole party affairs.
He said introduction of a new civilisation in the country's politics and taking care of uplift of women and youths were the main objectives of the party.
Dr Pachamuthu said the party was formally launched on May 8 and subsequently registered with the Election Commission of India. There were about three lakh members in the 'Pari Narpani Mandram', a social service organisation of the Tamil Nadu 'Parkava Kula Udayar Sangam', which had now converted into a full-fledged political party in the name of IJK, he added.
He said the new cadres for the party would be admitted only after those who became the member of the Pari Narpani Mandram.
On policies and idealogies of the party, he said there were 12 main policies for the party, which included higher education for all, employment opportunities for the youths, sophisticated medical care for all, economic price for agricultural produces, introduction of scientific approach in the farming operations, curbing price hike, equal rights for women, speedy industrialisation of rural areas and improvement in the per capita income.
Asked about the chances of the party in the ensuing Assembly elections, he claimed that there were bright chances in at least 80 Assembly constituencies in Tiruchirapalli, Pudukkottai, Salem and other districts of Tamil Nadu.
He said there would not be any gender difference in the party and the party would provide 50:50 representation for men and women in the local bodies or in the general election, in order to show the way to other political parties.
He said IJK wanted a political change in the country as well as in the state and with this aim the party would contest in the ensuing elections to the Tamil Nadu State Assembly in 2011.
To a question, he said, ''We will show our strength at the National Conference and unveil the party's policies and pragrammes.
Dr Pachamuthu pointed out that after the conference they would convene party's executive and general council meeting and decide whether the party would face the ensuing elections on its own or forge alliance with any other parties. Replying to a specific question, he said the party would protect the national integrity at any cost. The IJK would not follow idealogies of any other parties, he said, adding IJK cadres should not expect any thing from the party and instead should have faith in hard work.
He spoke on a wide range of issues, including party's electoral strategy, its vision for youth, scientific method of farming, quality education and employment.
To a question, he said ''as our party sharply differs with the two major Dravidian parties, the DMK and the AIADMK on policies, there could only be an electoral understanding in the event of alliance.'' He called upon the youths, especially educationists, engineers and graduates, to enter politics for which the IJK would provide all sorts of assistance.
